There are currently five public toilets located close to the town centre.
These are situated at the following locations:
- between the Town Hall and St James’s Church
- at the Market Hall
- by the Schloßteich
- in the Küchwald Pavilion
- at the central bus stop
Four of these public toilets currently charge a fee. A charge of 0.50 euros per use applies to these toilet facilities. The five public toilet facilities are managed by a municipal enterprise run by the City of Chemnitz.
All public toilets have accessible facilities that are gender-neutral. Furthermore, at some locations there is also a separation of men’s and women’s toilets, with an equal number of each.
The “Nette Toilette” project, under which restaurants made their toilets available to the public free of charge, was abolished by a City Council resolution (B-283/2024). Many restaurant owners have nevertheless continued to offer this service on a voluntary basis.
