The 10th Parksommer has come to a successful close
Around 23,000 visitors came to Stadthallenpark over the 28 days of the festival to enjoy a varied programme of concerts, poetry slams, children’s events and yoga, both on and off the 360-degree stage.
We can look back on a wonderful festival summer and are delighted with the consistently positive feedback from visitors and artists. Although we were unable to surpass the record attendance of 33,000 guests achieved during the European Capital of Culture year in 2025, we have maintained a very good level that is on a par with previous years.
Visitors’ willingness to support PARKSOMMER with a voluntary admission fee remains as strong as ever. Through the crowdfunding initiative with Volksbank Chemnitz eG and the deckchair hire scheme, 47,000 euros have been raised so far (cf. 2025: €46,424) has been raised so far. This means the target of €40,000 has been reached and the next PARKSOMMER is secured.
The next PARKSOMMER will take place from 8 July to 8 August 2027.
Background: PARKSOMMER
The 10th PARKSOMMER took place from 2 July to 2 August 2026 in Stadthallenpark in Chemnitz city centre. There was a cultural programme every day except Monday: Tuesday was jazz and soul night. Wednesday was reserved for folk music. Thursday was classical music night, and Friday was poetry slam night. On Saturdays, the stage belonged to singer-songwriters and indie acts, and on Sundays, visitors could look forward to a request concert. This provided a chance to see artists again who had already performed at PARKSOMMER in previous years and whom the visitors had requested to return. From Tuesday to Friday, there was also a programme for children starting at 5 pm. From 6 pm, the Stadthallenpark was reserved for yoga enthusiasts from Tuesday to Sunday, before the evening programme began at 8 pm. The idea for PARKSOMMER was conceived in 2017 with the aim of transforming the park into a vibrant, lively space during the summer months through a programme of attractive events.
