UFO landing on Seeberplatz

At Seeberplatz, there is currently something that’s well worth a look: a temporary art installation depicting an unidentified flying object.

The artwork depicts the “Heart of Chemnitz”. It weighs 2.9 tonnes, is approximately 2.4 metres wide and 2.7 metres high. Through interactions with visitors
and visitors, it is intended to make it pulsate (once more). From the outside, you can look into the capsule: inside there is a screen and a loudspeaker playing a question. This question seeks to capture young people’s perspectives on life in Chemnitz. Ideas for the design of this year’s festival can be drawn from the answers.

The installation serves as a preview of the Kosmos Festival and is aimed particularly at young people. The artwork was created as part of ‘Young Voices’ – a project in collaboration between enter – junge Kulturregion and the Kosmos Festival. The ‘Young Voices’ project gives young perspectives a voice at the Kosmos and
visible. It creates a new platform for creative participation, where teenagers and young adults can, together with other young people, contribute their ideas, themes and visions directly to the festival’s programme.

This year’s Kosmos Festival takes place on 29 August; on the evening before, the Kosmos Revue will be held in the foyer of the Stadthalle.
