Events at the Municipal Music School in September

Thursday 3 September, 3 pm

Another Da Capo after the finale – for and with Nancy Gibson

The September edition of the Musikcafé is intended as a thank-you to Nancy Gibson for her outstanding work as artistic director of the Da Capo Musikcafé and director of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. In an event format that Nancy Gibson initiated many years ago and has hosted ever since, she will this time be appearing as the guest of honour.

This special Musikcafé traces her life’s journey and showcases the music that has shaped her. Surprises are guaranteed. The event will be hosted by Ute Kiehn-Dziuballa and Bernd Ruscher.

Curtain up! – Workshop on the basics of acting
Venue: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Fee: 10 euros

Minimum age: 8 years

On 12 September, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School invites all theatre enthusiasts aged 8 and over to an exciting workshop: ‘Curtain up!’. From 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, participants will delve into the world of acting basics together and work on short scenes.

From 3.30 pm, all participants will showcase their work in a public performance in the concert hall – a fantastic experience for young and old alike! Be there when the curtain rises!

Family concert ‘KUNTERBUNT’ in the church of the Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Admission: free, though the musicians would appreciate a donation!

Pupils from the Municipal Music School cordially invite you to the “KUNTERBUNT” family concert on 18 September! The young musicians will present a varied programme that reflects the diversity of music education across different disciplines.

Antonia in the Forest – Family concert featuring a beetle

Together with Antonia the ladybird, you’ll experience a world full of fascinating sounds, interesting animals and mysterious encounters. Performers, instrumentalists, the children’s choir and the ballet troupe of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will create an atmospheric musical experience for young and old alike – to listen to, marvel at and dream about.

Kaleidoscope Concert – Compositions at the crossroads of Western European, Arabic and African music

The Chemnitz Music Society and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School cordially invite you to this year’s Kaleidoscope Concert – a musical journey through Western Europe, Arabia and Africa. Look forward to a rich variety of sounds by Claude Debussy, Gaspar Cassadó and the contemporary composers Gary Ryan and Ghaith Al Jammal. The programme will also feature folk songs from Armenia and Tanzania, as well as exciting improvisations. Experience impressive performances by teachers and guest artists from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School!
