Family time in the countryside: an activity day for children and adults

Invitation for families: 20 September, 1 pm to 5 pm, Küchwaldwiese

On Sunday 20 September, World Children’s Day, from 1 pm to 5 pm, the Children and Young People’s Commissioner for the City of Chemnitz, Dina Norberger, together with numerous clubs, local authorities, organisations and other partners, invites you to ‘Family Time in the Green’ at the Küchwaldwiese. The area will then be transformed into a large family activity zone – a colourful venue for play, exercise, fun and quality family time. Entry is free.

Visitors can look forward to a varied family activity day with numerous sporting, creative and informative hands-on activities. At various stalls, children and families can get involved, try out new things and discover what Chemnitz has to offer.

At the smoothie bike, children and adults can pedal away and use their own muscle power to blend a delicious smoothie. The fire brigade will also be on site. AOK Plus is taking part too, inviting visitors to give their hands-on sports activity a go. There’ll also be plenty of sporting action with handball and football. In the mobile music rehearsal room for children, young guests can try out various instruments and discover their love of music. In addition, there’s a children’s clothing swap where well-preserved clothes can find new owners.

Various services and support organisations for families in Chemnitz will also be presenting themselves. These include the FamilienApp Chemnitz, the Babylotsen, childminders, the Children’s and Youth Helpline, the City Sports Association, atiptap e. V., the Chemnitz branch of the Child Protection Association (Kinderschutzbund Ortsverband Chemnitz e. V.), the ‘Sigmund Jähn’ Cosmonaut Centre, the Entdeckerland nursery and many more.

The park railway is also preparing a colourful programme for visitors of all ages.

A stamp card provides an extra incentive: anyone who visits the various interactive stations and has their card fully stamped will be in for a little surprise at the end.

Bring a picnic blanket and basket to enjoy the day in the countryside. There are also several places to eat in the Küchwald.

Important information
Parking is available at the Jutta-Müller Ice Sports Centre and at the Küchwaldring car park. The event will be cancelled in the event of heavy or persistent rain.
