On Friday 18 September, from 5 pm to 7 pm, the City of Chemnitz and the Free State of Saxony are jointly hosting a reading under the trees at the Cotta Memorial Stone. As part of the ‘Together for the Forest’ initiative, the event will provide information on forests and forestry, and feature readings of literary works in the open air.
The Zeisigwald is the largest contiguous area of woodland in Chemnitz. Foresters from the City of Chemnitz’s Parks and Green Spaces Department and Sachsenforst will explain how the woodland is managed sustainably. But the Zeisigwald is also a place of relaxation and inspiration. That is why, on this evening, members of the 1st Chemnitz Authors’ Association will read their own texts relating to nature. The Chemnitz hunting horn players will provide musical accompaniment for the event.
It is recommended that you bring your own seating. In the event of light rain, the event will take place in the neighbouring pavilion; in the event of heavy rain or a storm, it will be cancelled.
How to get there
The Heinrich Cotta Stone is situated in the Zeisigwald on the Grenzweg. From Dresdner Straße, walk along the Grenzweg for approximately 550 metres southwards. From the Zeisigwaldschänke, via the C-Flügel and the Grenzweg, you will reach the memorial stone after just under 1 kilometre.
