Market information: Autumn and harvest week and fair

The city of Chemnitz is organising an autumn and harvest week from Friday, 31 August to Saturday, 8 September (with the exception of Sunday, 2 September) on the Neumarkt at the town hall, open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. Around 30 stalls will be selling freshly harvested fruit and vegetables, bulb braids and flower bulbs, garden ceramics and wood products, furs and knitwear, as well as a wide range of food and drink to tempt visitors to the market.

Various hands-on activities are prepared for the youngest market visitors during the autumn and harvest week: Every day from 10 a.m., girls and boys can try their hand at potato printing, making potato men and modelling balloons or take a few laps on one of the two children's carousels. Alpacas can be observed in an enclosure on site.

The market will also be accompanied by music: On Saturday, 1 September, members of the Saxonia Square Dance Club will give a demonstration of their skills from 1 pm. The Lanz-Leut from Gera will be performing folk tunes on Monday, 3 September from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, 8 September from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Autumn and Harvest Week. First-hand information on treatment options for rheumatic diseases will be available all day on Thursday, 6 September at the German Rheumatism League stand at Neumarkt, and visitors will also be able to do circuit training at exercise stations. Experts will be on hand to offer advice and exercise programmes.

The annual market , which is regularly held on the first Monday of the month, is scheduled for Monday, 3 September from 9 am to 5 pm on the grounds around the town hall. As usual, the traders will once again have a colourful range of goods on offer, and there will also be plenty to eat and drink.
