This year’s National Warning Day will take place on Thursday, 10 September, and the city of Chemnitz will once again be taking part.
At 11.00 am, a test warning will be triggered centrally via the National Warning Centre in Bonn using the Modular Warning System (MoWaS). This will then appear, for example, in the NINA warning app, via the Cell Broadcast mobile network service, or on digital city information screens.
In Chemnitz, the ‘danger warning’ signal (a one-minute wailing tone, comprising six tones, each lasting five seconds, with a five-second pause between each) will be heard from the sirens at all locations and at the majority of CVAG bus stops, though without a gong or a voice announcement. The planned text for the display boards is: ‘National Warning Day 2026 – Test Alert’.
At 11.45 am, the all-clear will be given: the all-clear warning tone (a continuous tone lasting one minute) will sound and the text ‘All-clear: National Warning Day 2026’ will be displayed.
The existing siren locations were supplemented at the end of 2025 by a further siren on the eleven-storey residential building at Wolgograder Allee 31.
