At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided that there will be the following district-specific open Sundays next year:
- On Sunday, 8 March 2026, in the Röhrsdorf district
Limited to the Chemnitz Centre, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the "Spring Stroll Market with 20 Years of Animal Friends Helping Animals in Need e. V." event. - On Sunday, 4 October 2026, in the Röhrsdorf district
Limited to the Chemnitz Centre, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the event "Erlebnis- und Jubiläumströdelmarkt & 33 Jahre Chemnitz-Center mit traditionm Jahrmarkt". - On Sunday, 29 November 2026, in the city centre district
In the city centre district, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the Chemnitz Christmas Market. - On Sunday, 13 December 2026, in the city centre district
In the city centre district, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the Chemnitz Christmas Market.
The regulation is based on the Saxon Shop Opening Act, which authorises the opening of sales outlets on special occasions.
