Ban on alcohol consumption at Thomas-Mann-Platz comes into force
A ban on alcohol consumption will come into force on Thomas-Mann-Platz from 10 July. From 9 am to 9 pm, Monday to Saturday, alcoholic drinks may not be consumed or brought into the designated area for consumption. The aim is to better protect children and young people from alcohol-related risks in public spaces.

Pupils from Chemnitz at the Hydrogen World Championships
Pupils from Chemnitz successfully entered hydrogen-powered model vehicles into the H2 Grand Prix World Final in Switzerland. The teams from the Dr. Wilhelm André Gymnasium came sixth and tenth, and were also awarded a prize for the most innovative vehicle.

The polyclinic has opened
Poliklinik gGmbH Chemnitz opened its medical centre in the Johanniskarree last Friday. Among those attending the opening were Minister-President Michael Kretschmer, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and representatives from the healthcare sector.

Primary school enrolment available online for the first time from 1 August
From 1 August, it will be possible to register for primary school online for the first time. Parents of children starting school in the 2027/2028 academic year can register their child online or continue to attend the in-person registration sessions at Chemnitz’s primary schools.

Last Friday, the Environment Agency of the City of Chemnitz held a ceremony at the Terra Nova Campus to present its Environment Award for Children and Young People.
